Really? In Canada?

I went out for a beautiful fall afternoon stroll yesterday, in Montreal. Amidst circular staircases and fleur des lis flags, I found an odd sign on someone’s lawn: an election poster …. for Obama. It’s white letters against its blue background urged: “Obama for President”.

Okay, fellow Canadians, it is true that the USA’s circus-like election campaign, on it’s second year run, is about a million times more entertaining than the month-long dryness called the Canadian 2008 election. BUT, putting up lawn signs for Obama on your Montreal property is not going to have any effect on the American voters (save for those rare dual-citizens). I wonder if the owner of the sign has any idea who the candidates are in the Canadian election. I do, but come to think about it, it seems like the only one worth knowing is Elizabeth May.
